Hydrangeas and roses are the fashion

for this summers wedding scene, and we are only too happy to oblige.

Way back in July we did a fairytale wedding in our garden here, at Ferns and Flowers, Tea house and Bistro.

The arch had a mix of garden style flowers and features roses, hydrangeas and ribbons.

A bubble machine added  hundreds of bubbles to the I’do’s!

The the 45 guest had dinner served in the farm house.

My door stocking Christmas

I used up all the damaged toys, ornaments and scraps, spray the insulation foam on a piece of plywood. Working extra fast make a three D collage for a door topper.  I then hung it over the door, placing yard clippings of evergreen around the top.  Stuffed misfit toys in the stocking after I filled the foot with old plastic bags. and topped it with more evergreens.  placed my old red Colombian on the step.  Cheap and easy, and I can store it, and use it in five years and it will be new and fresh again.

a few things in to lift the spirit.

ball ornaments, and trimmed the tops.

Ferns and Flowers Tea house front door

This is the front door of our shop this Christmas, drivers go by at 40 miles an hour, sometimes 50.  A simple clean look is what is called for. With the sneaky addition of lights to the door swag we add the sparkle.  See on the hing side of the door I send the plug to the garland set of lights, with enough slack to swing the door in with out it unplugging.  It works well, we have hundreds of guest coming in every day during the holidays.

Christmas in our neighborhood is special, each house has it’s own look, most built in the 40’s and 50’s, charming for walking and knowing each other.

I was asked to make something simple for the front door for this house, with plaid ribbon berries and greenery.  I added the gold ribbon to reflect the door knocker, and also because the house faces north, the shadow darkens the colors, and contrast is important when working with a black door.

They wanted traditional, no glittery looks, but we have to have something eye catching, she was very pleased.

This is grandma’s chalet in the traditional tones, with berries and greens if only we had snow, but who can complain about the 50’s for weather.

That picture was last week, this morning a dusting of powder sugar snow!

Ferns and Flowers is a family business, we are nearly 30 years old.

My wife Monica runs the Bistro and teas, and I, Michael run the Florist and Gift shop with my mother.  The three children are involved between school.

We have decorated the many dinning rooms in different looks, to give as many feelings and ideas for the Christmas season to our clients.  Come for a visit, it is a joy to see you.   Michael, Monica, Children, Grandma, and Staff.

Traditional Christmas Mantle

The soft cream colors here are accented with a touch of gold, and red for a classic look. This display in our shop is over filled, but at your home edit, then re edit.  At my home I often leave some decorations in storage, and take them out the next year,  they look new to me after that time.

Mantle ideas for TGday & on to HOho day!

A selection of fruits, nuts, and your family!

Almost every family has a few fruits and nuts as members, but here we are talking about the holiday mantle decoration.  This can be created for Thanksgiving as shown, or change the ribbon, and switch the orange pumpkins and brown pears and fall flowers to red apples and green pears, along with the nuts, and a few flowers, Holly and back to adding the candles.  The best part is that after the family nuts go back home, you can eat the fruit!

This is a lovely fall bouquet, for a wedding party. The attendants have rich red tone dresses. The random cascade sets a carefree yet elegant look to a formal event.
