Hydrangeas and Roses and Weddings oh My!
February 9, 2009
Hydrangeas and roses are the fashion
for this summers wedding scene, and we are only too happy to oblige.
Way back in July we did a fairytale wedding in our garden here, at Ferns and Flowers, Tea house and Bistro.
The arch had a mix of garden style flowers and features roses, hydrangeas and ribbons.
A bubble machine added hundreds of bubbles to the I’do’s!
The the 45 guest had dinner served in the farm house.

Baby Shower
September 26, 2008
We recently did a baby shower that was held in the adjacent restaurant. The organizer wanted colourful bouquets, with a summery feel and we were only too happy to oblige. The table centerpieces were created using flowers such as daisies, roses, rose hips, and small sunflowers. They were put in glass cube vases wrapped with ribbon and finally “garnished” with butterflies.

There were a total of four centerpieces

This arrangement was created using Hydrangea, roses, cabbage, miniature cymbeduim orchid, grasses, and several other plants able to be grown in gardens around RI. It was placed in the recent favourite pea-pod vase.

Garden in a Peapod

Hello folks, sorry for the lack of updates… school is starting up again and professors usually frown upon my furiously typing in class…
Anyways, this arrangement is for a real gardener and plant lover. We used a ceramic pea pod container and filled it with a large variety of plants, such as Stars of Bethlehem, Tritoma, Lavender Roses, Tuber Roses, Cabbage, Gerbera, Adriatic Lilies, Rose Hips, Pink Spray Roses, and Rosemary.

Cabbages and Butterflies

A little spanish moss really brings out the colors of the roses... its a good thing

Notice how the butterfly pulls the oranges and whites down into the core of the arrangement

I love the macro function on this camera!

Here is the arrangement as it appeared on the FTD website
Here we have another arrangement recieved through FTD. At our online store (www.fernsandflowers.com) customers can order pre-designed arrangements and we replicate and improve upon them. Of course, sometimes these orders can be tough (Its impossible to have every single flower than can appear in the FTD networks arrangements on hand all the time), but we never cease to try to please.

We also added Kankgaroos Paw

Don't worry, by the end of the day all of that green will have revealed tiny yellow flowers

Hydrangeas and roses are the fasion for this summers wedding scene, and we are only too happy to oblige.
Way back in July we did a fairytale wedding at Astors in Newport. We made about fifteen of these table centerpieces and “altar” pieces using roses, hydrangeas, lillies, orchids, stock, pink larkspur, and various greens.

For those of you who love the look of door pieces, wether it be christmas wreathes, decorative scarecrows, or whatever else you might hang there, I bring you this Butterfly door centerpiece. It is one of my particular favorites so far just because of its simplicity.

The centerpiece is approximatley 3ft by 2ft
As you can see, it is the essence of summer, complete with butterflies

butter butter butter (not sure of the sound butterflies make...)
As you can also see the piece is approximatley 6in deep

Not for use with actual butterflies

Hello again!
sorry for the lack of updates this weekend, I’m finally getting my motorcycle license and well in Rhode Island you have to sit through 7 hours of class-time to get it.
Needless to say, I have a new and interesting arrangement to show everyone!

Probably the summ.. the summeriest arrangement you'll see, all... summer
We made it using sunflowers, roses, yarrow, tritoma, birds, and butterflies, all placed into a birdhouse-style ceramic pot

spanish moss for the birdsnest

don't worry, its not real

Heres a $65 arrangement that was just done today that called for sunflowers, yellow spray roses, alstro, yarrow and lillys. After much debate, we decided to put it in a clear cylindrical vase with rocks and (fake) lemon slices as accents.

a little lemon helps accent the glass vase... its a good thing
