Little Red Bouquet

July 21, 2008

Creating so many arrangements inevitably creates “scraps.”  And by scraps I mean those “oops” moments where we cut the flower too short, break one of the buds off, or just arent satisfied with the color or appearance of the flower.  We don’t just throw these away however, we take them home for ourselves.  I give you the example of this little red bouquet my grandmother made the other day using nothing but scraps (which serves as testiment to her talents as a florist I might add)

Home Grown Wedding

July 21, 2008

Recently we had a couple come in requesting that we do a wedding for them using flowers from their garden as well as thai orchids. It was decided that the arrangements be clean and contemporary, not over the top. We created bows with Springerii for the chairs along the isle, two vases full of the couples Hydrangeas, and two centerpieces to hang over the couple.

We then created centerpieces to sit around candles on the tables.

Along with the wedding decorations, we also created the Brides and bridesmaids bouquets

FTD Catalog Order

July 21, 2008

FTD, if you have never heard of it, is a florist network that enables people to place an order at a florist in their location and have it created by a florist near the location they want it delivered to.

This specfic order was a sympathy arrangement the client selected from the FTD catalog

A picture of the catalog selection. As you can see it has only three roses, three snap-dragons, a stick, and several assorted smaller flowers

This arrangement was priced by FTD at $105.  We found the picture in the catalog to be a bit…  sparse as far as flowers go, especially for the price being paid.

Here is the arrangement we created, using much more flora than the picture perscribed

Hello all, My name is Trevor and I would like to welcome to the new Ferns and Flowers blog

I have created this blog in order to show our various works in progress, completed arrangements, and events. Ferns and Flowers was started in 1979 by mother and son team, Aline and Michael Gerard (I being Michaels son). In 2000 we moved to our present location, and Michaels wife Monica opened up the Teahouse and Bistro attached to the flower shop. After creating thousands arrangements for weddings and funerals, proms and graduations, and the commemoration and celibration of many other major events in peoples lives, we have accumulated a vast ammount of floral experience and are ready and willing to take on any request our clients have.

Everyone is welcome to come by and visit us here at Ferns and Flowers, Teahouse and Bistro

we are located on 1094 Centerville rd, Warwick, Rhode Island

Our hours are Monday thru Friday: 9am-5:30pm and Saturday: 9am-4pm.
